Speech by Mr. Jiang Guozhen, United Nations Coordinating Agency for International Cooperation, at the Seventh United Nations "Chinese Day" Beijing Celebration
Dear President Zhuang Yanlin, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
good morning!
Today is the seventh United Nations "Chinese Day". First of all, on behalf of the United Nations Coordinating Agency for International Cooperation, I would like to extend my warm welcome to all the leaders and guests coming to the celebrations.

In 2010, the United Nations Department of Public Information announced the launch of the United Nations Language Day. This new initiative was proposed to promote the use of multiple languages and cultural diversity, and promote the equal use of the six official languages in the United Nations. Among them, the United Nations Department of Public Information set the "Chinese Day" to the "Guyu" of the solar calendar on the 24th of the lunar calendar to commemorate the contribution of the "Chinese writing ancestor Chu Chang".
Since 2010, the United Nations Department of Public Information and the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations have jointly organized six "Chinese Day" celebrations.
Chinese is one of the oldest, richest and most beautiful languages in the world. The profound and profound Chinese culture is because it has the carrier of Chinese language, it can have a long history and flourish. In the 21st century, Chinese has played an increasingly important role in international communication; "Chinese language fever" is in the ascendant throughout the world. The UN's confirmation of the ¡°Chinese Day¡± celebration will further expand the influence of Chinese as the official language of the United Nations; and allow more people to come in contact with and understand China¡¯s long-standing civilization and splendid culture.
Chinese characters are the DNA of Chinese compatriots and are the bloodline of the Chinese nation. As Chinese, we should love our mother tongue better, learn Chinese well, and write Chinese characters. We will inherit and carry forward the Chinese characters from generation to generation.
As the United Nations Coordinating Agency for International Cooperation, we have the responsibility and obligation to do a good job in the dissemination of Chinese characters and dissemination of Chinese culture, guide the Chinese in the world to learn Chinese characters and Chinese culture, and consciously be the successors of Chinese characters and Chinese culture. We will regularly hold exhibitions and lectures and forums on Chinese characters and Chinese culture to make our due contribution to the greater influence of Chinese characters and Chinese culture in the world!
thank you all!
